Which ski resort to choose in Andorra?

Three ski areas, very different profiles: how to choose according to your level, your group and your budget, based on the official figures.

You are going with young children

Grandvalira is the area that publishes the most facilities for children: 6 themed areas, 7 snow gardens, 3 kindergartens, 1 nursery and lessons from age 3. The areas are spread across the sectors (Kids Forest at Grau Roig, Yôkai at Soldeu, Bababoom Circus at El Tarter, Mon(t) Magic at Canillo). Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís also list children's lessons on their official websites. If your stay is short, pick a single sector close to your accommodation rather than rushing from one sector to another.

You are a beginner or getting back into skiing

Pas de la Casa offers slopes for all levels and a snow garden, Canillo beginner slopes. A large ski area lets you widen your playground gradually; a small one, like Ordino Arcalís, is quickly covered and can suit a quiet weekend. In any case, a few lessons with the area's ski school are recommended.

You are looking for freeride or ski touring

Grandvalira announces 12 km of freeride zones and 53 km of ski touring circuits, with areas reachable from Grau Roig and El Tarter. Ordino Arcalís lists a freeride school and a mountain nature park, the Sorteny valley. Off-piste, always check the avalanche bulletin and never go alone: this guide does not replace the advice of a mountain professional.

You like snowparks or night skiing

There are three snowparks at Grandvalira (El Tarter, Grau Roig, Peretol); Peretol's Sunset Park is described as the only night-time snowpark in the Pyrenees. The Pas de la Casa sector also announces a night skiing slope. A night pass is listed at €28.50 (indicative, checked on 17 October 2026).

You want competition and speed

The Riberal slope, at Grau Roig, hosts the FIS Speed Skiing World Cup. The Avet (Soldeu) and Àliga (El Tarter) slopes hosted the FIS World Cup Finals in 2019. Grandvalira has 7 FIS-approved slopes.

You prefer a smaller, quieter area

Pal Arinsal (63 km) and Ordino Arcalís (30.5 km) are clearly smaller than Grandvalira. Pal Arinsal lists “starry dinners” at the Pla de la Cot restaurant; Ordino Arcalís offers mountain refuge restaurants and access to the Sorteny valley. This is not a promise of fewer crowds: check the holiday periods.

Budget and lift pass

From France: the access factor

Pas de la Casa is the first village in Andorra after the French border, at the end of the RN20 and N22 roads. It is the quickest base to reach from the Ariège and Toulouse; Arinsal and Ordino are further into the country. See our page on getting there.

Where to stay depending on your choice

Frequently asked questions

What is the best ski resort in Andorra?

It depends on your profile: Grandvalira for variety and facilities (215 km), Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís for smaller areas. No official figure allows ranking them in absolute terms.

Can you ski in several areas during one stay?

Yes: a pass valid for two or more consecutive days at Grandvalira also opens Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís. The areas are not linked by ski runs, so you have to travel by road.

Where to find the most slopes?

At Grandvalira, with 215 km announced, against more than 63 km at Pal Arinsal and 30.5 km at Ordino Arcalís.
