Village or slope-side?
Each resort has several rental shops, in the villages (Arinsal, Soldeu, El Tarter, Pas de la Casa) as well as at the foot of the lifts. A slope-side shop saves you carrying the gear; in a village, comparing several shops lets you set offers against each other.
Book ahead
During school holidays the queues are long on Saturday mornings. Most renters offer online booking: compare their conditions (cancellation, pick-up, duration) before paying. The resorts publish no reliable reference price: ask for a dated quote.
What to check
- The gear level: beginner, comfort or performance.
- The helmet: strongly recommended by schools and resorts; ask for it if it is not included.
- Insurance and deposit in case of damage or loss.
- Children's gear: binding settings and boot size should be done by a professional.
