By car from France
From Toulouse and the north, the classic route follows the A66 then the N20 via Foix, Tarascon-sur-Ariège and Ax-les-Thermes. At L'Hospitalet-près-l'Andorre, you leave the N20 for the N22, which climbs to the border and Pas de la Casa. It is the busiest road, with frequent delays between Ax-les-Thermes and the border on Saturdays and in holiday periods.
From Perpignan and the Mediterranean, the N116 (Prades, Mont-Louis) leads to Bourg-Madame; you then go up the N20 via Porté-Puymorens, take the Puymorens pass or tunnel (toll tunnel, safer in winter), then the N22 towards Pas de la Casa.
By car from Spain
From Barcelona, two options: via the C-16 and the Cadí tunnel to Puigcerdà, then the French N20 and the Puymorens; or via La Seu d'Urgell and Andorra (Andorra la Vella, then the CG-2 and the Envalira toll tunnel, or the Envalira pass). The second option crosses the whole country: handy if you stop over in Andorra la Vella, slower on busy days.
By train
There is no station in Pas de la Casa. The nearest is L'Hospitalet-près-l'Andorre, on the TER Toulouse – Latour-de-Carol line, about ten kilometres from the village. The Paris-Austerlitz – Latour-de-Carol night train also stops there. From the station, you have to finish the journey by bus, taxi or carpool: check connections before you leave, especially off-season.
